Horsey Windpump (HODs) - Heritage Open Day in GREAT YARMOUTH, Great Yarmouth - Great Yarmouth

Horsey Windpump

About

A unique Norfolk landmark, Horsey Windpump has much to offer including tours inside the windpump where you can discover the story of this amazing building and climb the stairs to the top where there is a spectacular view of the broads. Outside the windpump you'll find a quaint thatched tearoom (limited indoor seating), and gardens including a wildlife garden with sensory delights and a small orchard, home to our 'sow and grow' station where you can plant your own seed to grow at home.

There are a variety of walking routes on offer, whether you want to stroll alongside the broads with your four-legged-friend or take the three mile return walk to the beach, home to a grey seal colony.

There are 61 steps to climb to the top of the windpump. We advise that sensible footwear is worn by anyone attempting to climb.

Unfortunately, the ground floor of the windpump is the only wheelchair accessible portion of the windpump. This is due to the historic nature of the Grade 2 listed building. Please note we do not allow dogs (with the exception of assistance dogs) inside the windpump. We do have some lovely walks and gardens for your dog to enjoy. When visiting the beach, please be aware that seals must be given space, please do not approach and keep dogs on lead at all times.
