Lydia Eva - The Last Steam Drifter - Heritage Open Day in Great Yarmouth, Great Yarmouth - Great Yarmouth

Lydia Eva in steam

The Lydia Eva is moored on Great Yarmouth’s Heritage South Quay and acts as a reminder of the town’s herring fishing industry.

Once onboard visitors can see the fish hold, wheelhouse, galley and crews’ quarters.

In the engine room see the amazing original 1930 triple expansion steam engine, which still works today.

Still capable of going to sea, the Lydia Eva offers whole day sea trips during the summer months. Further details can be found on the website.

The vessel is accessed by a gangway which is not accessible for wheelchairs. There are stairs and ladders to some parts of the boat. There is no WC on board, nearest WC is at the Town Hall.

Tour takes 1 hour Our astounding invention is our triple expansion steam engine installed in 1930 by local company Crabtree and which is still in working order, although may not be in steam during heritage week.
