The Venetian Waterways and Boating Lake were built between 1926-1928 as a relief programme for the unemployed and has been recently restored by volunteers from the local community. The 7 acre park was lovingly restored in 2018, and is a popular destination for locals and tourists to visit. A popular haven for ducks and heron, also including two cafes, plus rowing boats and pedalos available to hire, this site is perfect for a family day out. On Heritage open days, you will be guided around these magnificent grounds with our experienced Gardeners to discover amazing and quirky facts about both the original site and the restoration work which has transformed this beautiful attraction.
