A new exhibition for 2026 is a fabulous Pirates exhibition

Set sail on a swashbuckling adventure this exciting exhibition takes visitors on a journey through pirate history, film and literature. Travel from the Cilician pirates of the Roman Mediterranean to the legendary Golden Age pirates of the Caribbean, meeting Vikings, Barbary corsairs and Chinese pirates along the way.

Discover fascinating facts about pirate ships, daring tactics and the often short and dangerous lives of those who lived outside the law. Explore how real events inspired some of our best-loved pirate stories and screen adventures.

The exhibition features spectacular costumes from Black Sails, Peter Pan and Spartacus, together with a range of period objects including weapons, ship models and treasure. Packed with drama, history and adventure, it offers an engaging experience for families and curious minds of all ages

The musuem also invites you to step back in time and uncover Great Yarmouth's story, from its Ice Age origins to the present day. Explore the town's once-thriving fishing industry and the lives of those who made their living from the sea. Wander through a recreated Victorian Row and step inside a fisherman's home, soak up the atmosphere of a 1950s quayside, take the wheel of a coastal steam drifter, and hear gripping tales of shipwrecks and daring rescues on the high seas.
