Sunday 3rd May - a lively May Day Festival at the Pavilion Bandstand.

Visitors can enjoy:

• Live vintage performances from The Knightingales and The Rogue Shanty Buoys
• Traditional Punch & Judy shows
• A colourful Maypole dancing display by local group The Dancers School
• Family-friendly activities including bunting making and tombolas
• An interactive educational tent exploring the origins and traditions of May Day

Nominations Open for the First Ever May Day Champion

A highlight of the festival will be the crowning of the theatre’s first-ever May Day Champion, and the community is warmly invited to take part.

Building on traditional folklore, where a young woman in the community was crowned May Queen to celebrate the arrival of spring, Gorleston Pavilion Theatre is proud to introduce a modern and inclusive twist by crowning a May Day Champion.

Organisers are seeking nominations for an individual who has made a significant positive impact within the local community, whether through charity work, volunteering, or supporting others.

The chosen nominee will be invited as guest of honour, crowned May Day Champion, and lead the traditional parade around the bandstand as part of the May Day celebrations.

Live Music May Day After Party

The celebrations continue into the evening with a May Day After Party in the theatre bar, featuring live music from Alex Mallett from 7:00pm.

Alex previously appeared on The X Factor alongside his brother Leon as part of the duo ITG, and holds a special connection to the Pavilion, his mother, the late Lisa Marie, was a beloved vocalist in the theatre’s Summer Season.

Our Theatre Bar will be open 11am–10pm for Bank Holiday drinks, with live music from 7pm to round off the day.
