Walking in the borough of Great Yarmouth

Great Yarmouth is a beautiful area to discover on foot. Many people consider Norfolk to be flat, we prefer to describe it as rolling, as there are a few hills out there to challenge walkers. Several of the National Trails originate in the borough, and there are plenty of other walks for hikers to enjoy, of all distances and difficulties.

We've gathered together a collection of our favourite walks here, with pdfs to download where possible. You'll find short walks and long walks to choose from to suit your taste.

Grouped by distance with walks up to 3 miles long, walks from 3 miles to 6 or walks of 7 miles and over, most of the walks are circular and the maps at the top of the page clearly show where the walks start.

The Norfolk Trails network brings together over 1,200 miles of walks, cycle and bridle routes throughout our beautiful county, many of which are in the borough of Great Yarmouth. There are options to go for a short circular walk, sample just a section of a trail or use a trail to visit a nearby town, village or heritage site.

If you're feeling it you could attempt the full 93 miles of the Angles Way running from Great Yarmouth to Thetford, the 37.5 mile Wherryman's Way from Great Yarmouth to Norwich or the 61 mile Weavers' Way from Great Yarmouth to Cromer! There are also some great Coast Alive Great Yarmouth walks, some of which are circular.

If you're feeling really adventurous take a look at the Mary Michael Pilgrims Way walk, or sections of it, which ends at Hopton-on-Sea.
